Live Performance:

Do you charge by the hour for live performances?

Although the length of the performance does factor into the final price, many other things affect pricing more- the size of the band you want, travel distance, preparation time, dress code, equipment needed, etc.

What styles of music do you offer?

We specialize in Jazz, but also play Latin & Caribbean styles, blues, funk, and a variety of pop styles. We can custom tailor the music to fit your tastes and needs. We can play all instrumental, or add a vocalist.

What kind of events do you play?

You name it! Any kind of party- weddings, corporate events, fundraisers, festivals, civic events, birthdays, mitzvahs, anniversaries; as well as club dates and concerts.

Would a jazz band suit my event?

‘Jazz’ is not a singular term. Many different genres and styles fit under that moniker, and can mean so many different things! When hiring jazz for any event, they can deliver a range of performances- from background music to a headline performance.

Classic jazz is well suited for high end and elegant ‘black-tie’ events, while Latin Jazz, blues or funkier jazz can enhance more of a party atmosphere. ‘Gatsby’ or prohibition era jazz has become exceedingly popular, as well as the ‘Post-Modern Jukebox’ style of pop tunes played in a jazz context.

Are you a pre-formed ‘Band’?

No. But we draw from a pool of the most established and experienced musicians in the area. Just ask and I can share that info with you.

Lessons:

How many lessons will it take?

That is the most subjective question asked. It all depends on how much personal practice time is involved, aptitude, constancy, etc. But..you will never know until you start.

Should I be at a certain level before I start lessons?

Many people mistakenly think they’re not good enough yet for lessons. Lies, lies, lies:) You can start at any level, and starting sooner than later is recommended to streamline your personal learning process as much as possible.
